Diesel Generator Sets refer to the power generation device that uses diesel oil as fuel to drive alternator with internal combustion engine as prime mover, and convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. It is composed by of diesel engine, alternator and control system.
Soar Group can provide you with distributed power plant EPC construction, cogeneration, emission reduction, noise reduction and other supporting projects, as well as engine modification and upgrading services. For more information on power plants, please vist our website: Diesel Power Plant.
Classification of Diesel generator sets:
1. According to their usage, the gensets can be classified into stationary diesel generator sets, Marine diesel generator sets, and Special diesel generator sets. Among them, the Special diesel generator sets can be classified into Closed diesel generator sets, Mobile diesel generator sets, and Emergency diesel generator sets, etc; wherein the Mobile diesel generator sets can be further classified into vehicle-mounted diesel generator set, Trailer diesel generator set, and Hand-pushed diesel generator set, etc.
2. According to the engine speed, and can be classified into high-speed diesel generator sets (speed more than 1000 r/min), medium-speed diesel generator sets (speed at 300-1000 r/min), low-speed diesel generator sets (speed lower than 300 r/min, often used in large power plant).
Characteristics of Medium Speed Diesel Generator Sets
1. Compared with high-speed gensets, the advantages of medium speed diesel generator sets:
● Durability (Low component wear, overhaul time of 60000 to 80000 hours);
● Reliability (Low failure rate, suitable for continuous operation);
● Economy (Fuel consumption as low as 185 g/kW.h, Low maintenance costs);
● High efficiency (Generation efficiency of over 45%).
2. The disadvantages are Large volume and heavy weight, relatively high one-time investment cost.
