Diesel Generator Sets refer to the power generation device that uses diesel oil as fuel to drive alternator with internal combustion engine as prime mover, and convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. It is composed by of diesel engine, alternator and control system.

Classification of Diesel generator sets:
1. The Diesel generator sets can be divided into two categories according to its purpose:
1.1 Land Diesel Generator Sets, it can be divided into two categories:
■ Stationary Diesel Generator Sets, it can be divided into Standard diesel generator sets, Enclosed diesel generator sets, and Emergency diesel generator sets;
■ Mobile Diesel Generator Sets, it can be divided into Vehicle-mounted diesel generator set, Trailer diesel generator set, and Hand-pushed diesel generator set, etc.

1.2 Marine Diesel Generator Sets, its are mainly used for power supply to ships and offshore platforms. Special requirements such as salt spray resistance, high humidity, and ship vibration must be met.
2. According to the engine speed, and can be classified into High-speed diesel generator sets, and Medium-speed diesel generator sets.
■ High-speed Diesel Generator Sets, refers to a Diesel generator set with a diesel engine speed n > 1000 r/min. It is a small bore, four stroke generator set. The single set power reaches over 3MW. It has small size, light weight, flexible and fast start stop, and low investment cost. Mainly used as an emergency backup generator Sets.
■ Medium-speed Diesel Generator Sets, refers to a Diesel generator set with a diesel engine speed between 300 - 1000 r/min. It is a medium-sized cylinder bore, four stroke generator set. The single set power reaches over 20MW. Medium-speed generator sets are widely used in scenarios that require extremely high reliability of power supply, such as peak shaving power stations, remote mining areas, oil fields, outdoor infrastructure projects, disaster rescue sites, data centers, etc.
