HFO Generator Sets refer to the power generation device that uses Heavy fuel oil as main fuel to drive alternator with internal combustion engine as prime mover and convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. It can burn Heavy fuel oil, Diesel oil and Tire pyrolysis oil, etc. Heavy oil generator sets are mostly medium and low speed generator sets. Its advantages are low operating cost, high reliability, long service life, suitability for continuous operation, fast return on investment and low noise. The disadvantage is that the one-time investment is relatively large. Heavy oil generator sets are the best choice for large industrial and mining enterprises and regional power supplies that require continuous power supply.

Classification of HFO Generator Sets:
1. According to their usage location, the HFO generator sets can be divided into two categories:
■ Stationary HFO Generator Sets, including Open-frame HFO generator sets and Containerized HFO generator sets.
■ Marine HFO Generator Sets, suitable for marine vessels. Mainly used in Power barges, Ship main generators, Electric propulsion systems, etc. Special requirements such as salt spray resistance, high humidity, and ship vibration must be met.
2. According to engine speed, the HFO generator sets can be divided into two categories:
■ Medium-speed HFO Generator Sets, It refers to a generator set with an engine speed between 300 ≤ n < 1000 r/min. It is a medium-sized cylinder bore, four stroke generator set. The single set power reaches over 20 MW.
■ Low-speed HFO Generator Sets, It refers to a generator set with an engine speed n < 300 r/min. It is a large bore, two-stroke generator set. The single set power reaches 30 - 80 MW.
